Coating Thickness Measurements

Alternate Systems provides certified thickness standards to verify the accuracy and operation of coating thickness gauges. They verify the accuracy and operation of mechanical & electronic magnetic, ultrasonic, or eddy-current coating thickness gauges.

These standards are also used with leading-edge technologies like the Sensory Analytics’ SpecMetrix coating measurement system.

Coating thickness standards are an important component in fulfilling both ISO/QS-9000 and in-house quality control Coating Thickness Standards requirements. They are ideal for factory floor use or in your calibration or research lab. Total combined uncertainties can approach 6 micro inches, or 0.15 micron.

Standards are typically purchased as an accessory to coating thickness gages. Many customers find it more practical to verify the accuracy of their own gages in-house and utilize our calibration services to insure their accuracy. This is particularly true when many gauges are in use and/or when accuracy verification is performed often. A lot of companies, or institutions, require verification of gage accuracy every time a coating thickness gage is used and at regular intervals during each run.

Our Standards include:

  • Ablative & Stealth Coatings
  • Coating Thickness Standards
  • Conductivity Standards
  • Ferrite Standards
  • Metal Foil & Plated XRF Standards
  • Metalized Ceramics
  • Mylar™ Foil Calibration Standards
  • XRF Standards

“To Alternate Systems,

I wanted to take this opportunity to commend you for your contribution to our facility’s efforts – in our 2014 corporate review, our facility was given exemplary marks for our processes regarding the control and maintenance of monitoring and recording devices within the warehouse; our high performance in these areas is made possible by your company’s diligent work in keeping our equipment calibrated and in excellent condition. I can personally attest to the knowledge, patience, and work ethic your company brings to bear in tending to our needs and helping us ensure that we are able to surmount any issues that could affect our business. See below for an excerpt from our most recent audit listing the “Best in Class” designations we received in the areas of measuring equipment control and maintenance:

IMTE – Control of Monitoring and Measuring Devices: Very thorough control of the temperature and scale equipment tracking, calibration and maintenance. Very critical in a GXP site.

Temperature Control and Monitoring: Very robust / compliant system in place for Temperature Mapping, Control, Maintenance and oversight.

Warmest Regards,
